Beautiful building, the interior is stunning.
The menu is varied and I'm very happily working my way through it. Drinks menu is good too. Great offers on nights and a lovely place to be. Staff are always very friendly and welcoming and helpful.
Ordering is quite easy via website but you can just go to the bat and order too.
A lovely welcome spot in our town.
Definitely recommend.

Nice addition to the square and great that the old Barclays Bank has been restored and has been put back to good use, lovely room/building. Could do with a nice real ale, only keg available. Lunch offers are good and daily deals on food/cocktails merit a visit - go see for yourself

Incredible building . Great food and service and more than reasonabley priced . And what a unique ambience. I find it difficult in some of the reviews here of people being mean in their comments… it makes me suspicious if these mean comments come from other business owners as their comments are so unfounded in my experience ..

This is the second time in my 67 years life when I have left a restaurant due to non-existing service. First time was in Örnsköldsvik in northern Sweden around 10 years ago.
I’m housesitting in Saffron Walden for 10 days and the house owners, knowing I’m a foodie - recommended this restaurant. I gave it a try. Or I tried to try. Entered. “Wait here to get seated” - said the sign. And I waited. And waited. Staff gave the growing queue a look and headed in the opposite direction. The queue grew. I left. At Elizza’s my waiting time was 1 second. And their Negroni was brilliant.
So dear restaurant owner- make sure one of your staff members is in charge of the seating service. Now it felt like “that’s someone else’s problem”.

This is my 3rd visit. Today wasn’t a great experience. I didn’t mind the 20 min wait for the table. Being ignored while waiting to place my order at the bar wasn’t great so went back to my table and ordered via the app. My drink was brought out almost straight away but waiting for over 30 mins for two plates of food without anyone bringing cutlery, engaging or explaining there would be delay isn’t good service.
After half an hour, I asked if our food would be much longer. I was told there was a delay as they had been busy and given an apology so hopefully this is just a one off.

I had such high hopes for this place. It’s such a stunning building it already has an advantage on competitors. This is all sadly let down by a QR code ordering system!!! Or take your table number to the bar to order food. Seriously?? A venue as wonderful as this but could be compared to a Wetherspoons. Disappointing.
We had a brunch. The food was luke warm.
Don’t lose the opportunity Zafferano. Install a waiting table service. Make sure your food is hot and good quality. Consider acoustics management for such a large area with tall ceilings as the whirring sound gives the feeling of a large canteen.

Tried this place as the building looked interesting and there were some good things on the menu. First time I've been somewhere where you order from your table using an app which has asked for you to add a tip - when at that point you've had zero service! Food was good, but service was poor, order wasn't delivered correctly, and when this was pointed out the server said they'd be back with a replacement, which never came. Won't be hurrying back there despite the good food (but as there are so many good places to eat in Walden, why settle for one with poor service?) but at least now I know what it's like now.

We tried the place for the first time this evening.
A drink was spilled on one of our group (these things happen).
Food came out cold (this shouldn’t happen).
Fantastic venue, it’s lovely to see the building being used. For the cost vs quality of food, I’d rather support a local business like Chaters, the goat ect.
It is dog friendly which is great to see!

First time going in since opening, the building and decor is awesome, very ‘buzzy’ atmosphere as it’s Christmas party season. That said, food took over 30mins to come out (only ordered 6 tapas dishes), expensive - three Luke warm halloumi sticks £6.35, barely a teaspoon of sauce on the pastas bravas and half the food wasn’t even hot. all in all very expensive for very average food. Would’ve complained but it took so long to see a waitress again that it wasn’t worth it. Pity as had a nice evening with company, just not great food. Also Not a fan of the detached QR code ordering especially asking for a tip (which you can decline)
Having lived in the town for nearly 10 years and having seen a lot of restaurants come and go I do feel like this place may not endure.

Popped in for breakfast and to see what they had done to the building. It looked fantastic. The breakfast was quite different. Nice food but all the eggs were served cold. The waiter explained that the Miami Brunch was supposed to be cold. I have never had cold eggs as part of a breakfast. Even the eggs on the full English were cold. The waiter was apologetic and dealt with the situation calmly. However the food was just marginally better than a Wetherspoons and way more expensive. Will not rush back.

The building and decor is lovely and it had a buzzing atmosphere. We were greeted by very pleasant staff and shown to our table. We went just for drinks so can't comment on the food. I had 2 espresso martinis. It was well presented but very small, weak and for £9.50 was not worth it. My husband had a mojito which was weak and a margarita which had very little tequila in, and was full of ice! Again not worth the money! The drinks were very disappointing. 😔

We came to celebrate our son’s birthday as a party of 6 people on a quiet Monday evening. Have to say the food was really very good, and was such good value. The decor and styling is beautiful and it is a great addition to the town.
Just a couple of “criticisms” (though not negative enough to downgrade from 5* review as the food and staff were too good) our drinks took a long time to arrive. We’d ordered through the qr code whilst there was no one at the bar. After we placed our order, the bartender arrived back at the bar, but then had a customer waiting at the bar, of which they took their order and made their drinks. This meant we had to wait until that customer had their drinks made first, making our wait time for drinks about 20 minutes. (Not complicated drinks, just cokes etc!) Obviously just a mix up but maybe one to keep an eye on.
The other thing I’d say is we enquired beforehand as to booking a table (just because it was my son’s birthday and we didn’t want to risk not having a table!) we were sent an email back to say that they don’t take bookings for 6 or more people this time of year and if they do it’s Christmas menu only and £5 per head deposit. It was unclear whether it was larger groups as a whole had to have the Christmas menu, or just those that had booked ahead. I totally understand the policy, but being a Monday night in November, it seemed a bit much. But because my son had his heart set on it, we rang up and spoke to a lovely staff member who reassured us we didn’t have to have the Xmas menu and they were very unlikely to be too busy at 5pm on a Monday night, so just turning up would be no problem. Thank goodness we spoke to someone verbally as If we had followed just the email alone, we would not have come at all as the wording and “strictness” of their policy could have put us off.
Despite all this I’m glad we didn’t get put off by the email, and do understand the mix up with the drinks orders as we will definitely be returning to this great new restaurant in town! The menu is comprehensive and the seating and lighting was so comfortable and spacious - lots of room and not on top of other diners. Being dog friendly is a fantastic bonus too!

Impersonal service, QR code ordering irritating, I'd much prefer my order to be taken by a person. Prompt delivery to table, but minimal interaction. The food was good, but the wine selection was limited. Beautiful building rather wasted by over bright lighting, which gives a "canteen" feel. Overall, it's underwhelming for me. A wasted opportunity with such an impressive former bank.
